What to record
Blistering or peeling paint can involve moisture, contamination, poor preparation or incompatible coating layers. Record when it appears, the wall location and any recent painting or repairs. It should not automatically be diagnosed as a waterproofing failure.
Before choosing a repair
If a leak is involved, repair the source before reinstating the finish. The wall condition and the coating manufacturer’s substrate requirements determine preparation and drying. A fresh coat of paint is not evidence that a concealed leak has been repaired.
